Bachtrack

Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G

The Solent Symphony Orchestra, ably conducted by Steve Tanner, presented an exciting programme in the resonant acoustics of Portsmouth Cathedral...a rhapsodic account of the Ravel Piano Concerto in G. Refiye Mehmet excelled in the beautiful second movement...

Boulez in Birmingham

Two workshops were given in the Adrian Boult Hall....the deeply thoughtful, gifted pianist Refiye Mehmet in some of the early, occasionally finger-crunching Notations.

Refiye possesses the perfect skillset to be a music director - she has the brevity to lead, the intuition to know when to follow and the skill of a musician that all directors dream to collaborate with. While working together on the world premiere of ‘On Air’, I got to know Refiye’s wonderful sense of humour, always tempered with a dedication to get the job done. Working with her was a complete delight.

Theatre review: Always...Patsy Cline by Creative Cauldon

Shedd-Thompson is well-backed by a talented group of musicians...Music direction is by Refiye Tappan on keyboards. They really brought the feel of a honky-tonk to life in an open-air park.

‘Always…Patsy Cline’ live from Creative Cauldron is heady and sweet

Musical director Refiye Tappan drowns out this outside noise with a five-piece orchestra...They do a fantastic job, and if you’re a fan of live music in general, this show is a great choice.

Concert Review: Erin Granfield at Creative Cauldron

...those of us in attendance were lucky enough to be held in thrall by her voice, and by her musical co-conspirators, Refiye Tappan and Dakota Taylor.
The playlist for this original cabaret was selected by Granfield and orchestrated by keyboardist and music director, Refiye Tappan...
This was a delicious evening...the three artists were fabulous, and the production was smooth. What we all need now is more evenings like this – sitting in a park and listening to beautiful music.
